A lot has been talked in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in England. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for big aid to help keep the industry afloat. But does the net variation of this traditional game offer a salvation, or might it never compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an age old game normally played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game of late had experienced a recent comeback in appeal with younger men and women deciding to go to the bingo parlours in place of the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the introduction of the anti smoking law all over United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be able to smoke at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of '07 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favored locations where folks enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the business is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Of course they haven't abandoned this ancient game?

The answer is online. People realise that they can enjoy bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a drink and fag and still enjoy huge cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on on the net will never replace the collective portion of going down to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the rules have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
