Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That is owing to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for generations. Patrons from many of the neighboring states load up in cars and travel into Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. Since that time, 23 of the 39 Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Indian tribes to take advantage of the betting rules, and at this time control ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were founded. digital games like slots weren't allowed, on the grounds that they're believed to lead to gambling addiction at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma law have altered to allow for gigantic Indian betting casinos. You'll now find American Indian gambling dens with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the Amerindian gambling halls as of yet, but that is only a matter of time. Nobody can say with whether having other casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.

An abundance has been written in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hit because of the cigarette ban in England. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big tax breaks to assist in keeping the businesses afloat. But does the internet variation of this quintessential game offer a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its real life equivalent?

Bingo is an ancient game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game recently had experienced a recent increase in popularity with younger members of society opting to visit the bingo parlours in place of the discos on a Saturday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the introduction of the anti cigarette law around Britain.

No more will enthusiasts be permitted to smoke while marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of '07 every public place will not be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most popular locations where players enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlors. Profits have dropped and the industry is literally struggling for its life. But where did the players go? Certainly they haven't abandoned this familiar game?

The answer is on the web. People realise that they can participate in bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a drink and cigarette and still have a chance at huge cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on online will never replace the communal part of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of players the law has left many bingo players with little choice.
